Biography

Blessed Annunciata Asteria Cocchetti, also known as Blessed Annunciata Cocchetti, was born on 9 May 1800 in Rovato, Italy. Sadly, she became an orphan at the tender age of seven, but found solace and guidance under the loving care of her grandmother, who played a significant role in shaping her future.

Recognizing the value of education, even at a young age, Blessed Annunciata developed a deep desire to help others and make a difference in their lives. When she turned 17, she took a remarkable step by opening a school for underprivileged girls in her own home. Through her dedication and commitment, that humble beginning eventually blossomed into a profound impact on the lives of many.

At the age of 22, Blessed Annunciata began her career as a teacher, initially in Rovato, Italy, and later in Cemmo Valcamonica, Italy. Her natural talent for imparting knowledge, coupled with her compassionate nature, made her a beloved figure among her students, and she became a source of inspiration for many.

While Blessed Annunciata's contributions to education were significant, her mission extended beyond the classroom. The beatification ceremony took place at Saint Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Italy, honoring her legacy and offering her as an example of holiness for all the faithful to follow.

Today, Blessed Annunciata is remembered and celebrated on her feast day, which falls on 23 March each year.
