Blessed Domenico Lentini, born on 20 November 1770 in Lauria, Potenza, Italy, was the youngest of five children in a poor yet devoutly Catholic family. From a young age, Domenico felt a strong calling to the priesthood, which led him to pursue his studies at the seminary in Salerno, Italy. After completing his studies, he was ordained in the diocese of Tursi-Lagonegro, Italy, in 1794.
Following his ordination, Blessed Domenico Lentini was assigned to his hometown of Lauria, where he dedicated himself to serving the local community for the rest of his life. He became well-known for his self-imposed poverty, his fervent devotion to the Eucharist, and his deep reverence for Our Lady of Sorrows. These aspects of his spirituality greatly influenced his ministry, shaping him into a compassionate and devoted pastor.

Blessed Domenico Lentini passed away on 25 February 1828 in Lauria, Potenza, Italy, due to natural causes. Recognizing his profound sanctity and the impact of his ministry, he was venerated on 27 January 1935 by Pope Pius XI.
Finally, on 12 October 1997, Pope John Paul II beatified Blessed Domenico Lentini in Rome, Italy. His beatification serves as an official recognition of his virtuous life and as an inspiration for Catholics worldwide to emulate his holiness and dedication in their own lives. Today, his feast day is celebrated on 25 February each year, honoring his legacy of selfless service and devotion to God.
