Blessed Eusebio Alonso Uyarra, also known as Evencio Ricardo, was a devoted member of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, commonly known as the De La Salle Brothers. He was born on March 6, 1917, in the town of Viloria de Rioja, Burgos, Spain.
Eusebio Alonso Uyarra grew up in a faithful Catholic family, and from an early age, he displayed a deep love for God and a strong desire to serve others. Recognizing his calling to the religious life, he joined the De La Salle Brothers, an order dedicated to education and the Christian formation of children and young people.
During the tumultuous period of the Spanish Civil War, Eusebio Alonso Uyarra remained steadfast in his commitment to his religious vocation despite the dangers and persecution faced by religious orders. Tragically, on September 8, 1936, he was martyred for his faith. Eusebio was unjustly executed by being shot on the Roquetas highway in Almería, Spain. His martyrdom is a testament to his unwavering devotion to his faith and his willingness to sacrifice his life for the sake of his beliefs.
