Blessed Geoffrey of Peronne, also known as Geoffrey of Clairvaux, was a close friend and confidant of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux. He is celebrated for his devout spirituality and dedication to the Cistercian Order, particularly as the Prior of Clairvaux Abbey.
Not much is known about Geoffrey's early life, as specific details regarding his birth, family, and upbringing remain elusive. However, it is widely acknowledged that he was deeply influenced by the teachings and charismatic personality of Saint Bernard, one of the most influential figures in medieval Catholicism.
Geoffrey's association with Saint Bernard began during his time as a monk at Clairvaux Abbey, founded by Bernard himself in 1115. He quickly rose through the ranks of the Cistercian Order, displaying exceptional leadership qualities and spiritual insight.
