Biography

Blessed Johann Philipp Jeningen, also known as the Apostle of the Ries, was born on 5 January 1642 in Eichstátt, Bavaria, Germany. He entered the Jesuit order on 19 January 1663 in Landsberg and was ordained as a priest on 11 June 1672. With his zealous and charismatic nature, Johann quickly gained popularity as a missionary.

One of his notable accomplishments was his work at the shrine of Our Lady of Schönenberg. Through his efforts, the shrine became a place of pilgrimage that attracted a large number of devotees. The influx of pilgrims was so significant that a new church had to be built at the site to accommodate the growing number of visitors.

The beatification miracle associated with Blessed Johann Philipp Jeningen involved the healing of a man in Ulm, Germany, in 1985. The man suffered from gallbladder inflammation, severe sepsis, pneumonia, digestive hemorrhage from gastroduodenal ulcer, breathing difficulties, and other minor maladies. Through the prayerful intercession of Blessed Johann Philipp Jeningen, the man experienced a miraculous recovery, which could not be explained by medical intervention alone. This extraordinary healing was instrumental in the beatification process and further showcased the powerful intercessory nature of Blessed Johann's spiritual influence.
