Biography

Blessed John Marinoni, also known as Francesco Marinoni or Giovanni Marinoni, was a prominent figure in the Catholic Church during the 16th century. Born on 25 December 1490 in Venice, Italy, Marinoni would go on to lead a remarkable life dedicated to the service of God and the preaching of the Gospel.

Having accomplished great achievements in his role as a priest and canon of Saint Mark's Cathedral in Venice, Marinoni made the decision in 1530 to give up his prestigious position in order to work alongside Saint Cajetan, the founder of the Theatines. This selfless act of devotion exemplified Marinoni's deep sense of commitment to his faith and his unwavering desire to spread the teachings of Christ.

Marinoni was renowned for his irrepressible preaching style, with his sermons consistently centered around the theme of Christ crucified. Blessed John Marinoni's feast day is celebrated on 13 December, the day of his passing. He died on that same date in 1562, in Naples, Italy, at the age of 71 from natural causes. Although not formally canonized, Marinoni's beatification serves as a testament to his sanctity and the profound impact he had on the Catholic community.
