Biography

Blessed Jules Tuffier, also known as Father Polycarpe, Polycarpo, and Giulio Tuffier, was born on 16 March 1807 in Malzieu, Lozère, France. He received his education at the college of the Picpus Fathers and, deeply inspired by their mission, joined the congregation, making his profession on 14 May 1823.

Jules Tuffier's dedication to his faith led him to pursue the priesthood, and he was ordained in 1830. Throughout his ministry, he served as a parish priest, chaplain to convents, and superior of teaching Fathers at several colleges. His profound preaching was well regarded by those who had the privilege to hear him, as his words conveyed deep spiritual insight and wisdom.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Father Tuffier also took on important leadership roles within the congregation. He served as the procurator and General Councilor of the Fathers, contributing to the governance and administration of the religious community.
