Biography

Blessed Michael Ghebre, also known as Ghébre Michael, Michele Ghébré, or Mikael Gabra, was born in 1791 in Dibo, West Gojam, in what is now modern-day Ethiopia. Little is known about his early life, but in 1844, he encountered Vincentian missionaries who were preaching the Gospel in his homeland. Moved by their message, Michael converted to Christianity and became deeply committed to his newfound faith.
