Miquel Codina Ventayol entered the Claretian Order and made his religious profession on August 31, 1926. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his vocation and was ordained a priest on May 26, 1934. He remained steadfast in his beliefs and refused to renounce his Catholic identity, even in the face of persecution and death.
Father Miquel Codina Ventayol is celebrated as one of the 109 Spanish Claretian Martyrs, whose feast day is observed on October 12. Additionally, he is also commemorated on February 1, along with the other Spanish Claretian Martyrs. These martyrs laid down their lives for their faith and serve as powerful examples of courage and devotion to God.
Recognizing his heroic virtue and martyrdom, Pope Francis officially declared the veneration of Blessed Miquel Codina Ventayol on December 21, 2016, through the decree of martyrdom. Later, on October 21, 2017, Pope Francis presided over the beatification ceremony, which took place at the Basilica of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain.
