Biography

Blessed Reginalda Picas Planas, also known as Blessed Reginalda, was a member of the Dominican Sisters of the Anunciata and a martyr of the Spanish Civil War. She was born on 25 May 1895 in Borreda, Barcelona, Spain.

Reginalda devoted her life to the service of God and entered the Dominican Sisters of the Anunciata, a religious congregation known for their dedication to education and charitable work. As a sister, she was known for her humility, kindness, and deep faith.

During the turbulent times of the Spanish Civil War, the Catholic Church and its followers faced persecution. Reginalda, along with many other religious men and women, became targets of violence due to their religious beliefs. Despite the danger, she boldly continued to live out her faith and provide comfort to those in need.

On 27 July 1936, Reginalda was tragically martyred in Manresa, Barcelona, Spain. Her unwavering commitment to her faith and her service to others led to her ultimate sacrifice for the sake of Christ.

Recognizing her courageous witness and martyrdom, Pope Benedict XVI issued a decree of martyrdom on 19 December 2005, officially venerating Reginalda Picas Planas as a blessed. She was beatified by Pope Benedict XVI on 28 October 2007, further affirming her holiness and the significance of her sacrifice for the Catholic Church.
