Biography

Blessed Thomas Vives, a devoted Mercedarian friar, dedicated his life to the solemn mission of redeeming Christian captives held in Muslim territories. Sent to Tunisia in the service of his order, he courageously sought to liberate fellow Christians enslaved by local authorities. His unwavering commitment to this sacred duty, however, led to his own capture. For five long years, Brother Thomas endured imprisonment in Tunisia, steadfastly refusing to renounce his faith despite intense pressure. His steadfast witness to Christ in the face of prolonged suffering and persecution culminated in his martyrdom, executed for his fidelity to the Gospel.
