Biography

Blessed Vivald of Gimignano, also known as Vivaldo of Gimignano, Ubaldo of Gimignano, and Waldo of Gimignano, was a deeply spiritual individual who studied under the guidance of Blessed Bartolo da San Gimignano. Following the passing of Bartolo in 1300, Vivald decided to withdraw from the world and dedicate his life to solitary contemplation as a hermit. For twenty years, he found solace and spiritual fulfillment in living within a hollow chestnut tree.
