Biography

Blessed Wladyslaw Bladzinski, also known as Ladislao, was a revered Catholic priest and member of the Congregation of Saint Michael the Archangel. He was born in January 1908 in Myslatycze, located in the Podkarpackie region of Poland.

During the dark times of World War II, when the Nazi regime unleashed its terror upon Europe, Blessed Wladyslaw Bladzinski fearlessly stood for his faith and principles. He became a shining example of unwavering dedication and martyrdom. As a result, he was one of the 108 Polish Martyrs of World War II.

In the midst of the Nazi persecutions, Blessed Wladyslaw Bladzinski found himself imprisoned in a concentration camp. There, he was subjected to forced labor in a stone quarry under harsh and deplorable conditions. Despite the unbearable circumstances, he remained steadfast and unwavering in his faith, providing solace and inspiration to his fellow prisoners.

Tragically, Blessed Wladyslaw Bladzinski's torment came to a cruel end on 8 September 1944 in Gross-Rosen, Goczalków, in the occupied region of Dolno≈õlƒÖskie, Poland. He was brutally murdered, undoubtedly bearing witness to his faith until the very end. His unwavering commitment and sacrifice made him a true martyr.

Recognizing the extraordinary holiness and devotion exhibited by Blessed Wladyslaw Bladzinski, Pope John Paul II declared his martyrdom on 26 March 1999. Later, on 13 June 1999, during a deeply significant ceremony in Warsaw, Poland, Pope John Paul II beatified him, elevating him to the esteemed position of blessed in the Catholic Church.

Blessed Wladyslaw Bladzinski's feast days are celebrated on 8 September, the day of his martyrdom, as well as 12 June, alongside the other Polish Martyrs of World War II. These dates serve as reminders to the faithful of his selfless sacrifice and unwavering faithfulness, inspiring them to persevere in the face of adversity.
