Biography

Saint Anthimus of Rome, also known as Saint Anthimus of Rome, was a parish priest in Rome, Italy during the 3rd century. He is well-known for his remarkable conversions, especially that of a Roman prefect. Through his preaching and guidance, he was able to bring this high-ranking Roman official to embrace the Christian faith. The conversion of the Roman prefect brought Saint Anthimus to the attention of Roman officials, who condemned him to be drowned in the Tiber River due to his steadfast commitment to his religious beliefs. However, this ordeal took an unexpected turn when an angel intervened and miraculously rescued him from the waters. Following this miraculous incident, Saint Anthimus continued his tireless work of spreading the Gospel and converting people to Christianity. However, his commitment to his faith eventually resulted in his recapture by Roman authorities. Despite knowing the dangers that awaited him, Saint Anthimus remained steadfast in his devotion to Christ. Saint Anthimus met his martyrdom when he was beheaded in the year 303 on the Via Salaria, just outside the city of Rome, Italy. Although not much is known about his specific patronage, Saint Anthimus remains a revered figure within the Catholic Church.
