Biography

Saint Celerinus of Carthage, also known as Celerino, was born in Carthage, North Africa. He was the nephew of Saint Laurentinus, Saint Laurentius, and Saint Clerina, all of whom were revered for their strong faith and martyrdom. During the persecutions of Decius in Rome, Italy, Saint Celerinus was unjustly imprisoned and subjected to severe torture due to his unyielding commitment to his Christian faith. Despite the physical and emotional anguish he endured, he remained steadfast in his beliefs, even willing to die for the sake of his faith. After enduring a period of intense suffering, Saint Celerinus was miraculously freed from his captivity and returned to his hometown of Carthage. It was during this time that he encountered and became ordained as a deacon under the guidance of the prominent bishop and future saint, Saint Cyprian.
