Saint Conon the Elder and his son, Conon the Younger, were both charged with treason for openly practicing Christianity. During their trial, they fearlessly confessed their faith, refusing to renounce their devotion to Christ. As a result, they were subjected to brutal torture in an attempt to force them to recant their beliefs. The tortures inflicted upon Saint Conon the Elder and his son were unimaginably cruel. They were subjected to excruciating pain but did not waver in their faith. Eventually, Saint Conon the Elder was roasted over a fire and then racked to death in the year 275.

After their martyrdom, the relics of Saint Conon the Elder were translated to Acerra, Italy, where they continue to be venerated to this day. His feast day is celebrated on the 29th of May each year, a day dedicated to honoring his life, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to Christ.
