Saint Juniper, also known as a "God's fool," was one of the earliest Franciscan friars and played a significant role in the establishment of the Franciscan missions. Born in the twelfth century, his exact date of birth is not known, and very few details of his early life have been recorded. It was his encounter with Saint Francis of Assisi that transformed Juniper's life and led him to dedicate himself to God's service as a friar. Juniper joined the Order of Friars Minor, established by Saint Francis himself, and was received into the order under Francis' personal guidance. Saint Juniper became known for his extensive travels and missionary work. As a fervent advocate of the Franciscan lifestyle, he undertook various missions, sharing the teachings of Saint Francis and helping establish Franciscan communities in different locations.
