Saint Martyrius of Valeria, also known as Martory, was a sixth-century hermit who lived in the region of Valeria, which is now modern-day Abruzzo, Italy. Very little is known about his early life, but it is believed that he was born in the late fifth century and lived during the tumultuous period of the barbarian invasions and the decline of the Roman Empire....
