Saint Mirin of Bangor, also known as Mirin of Benchor, Mirin of Paisley, Meadhran of..., Merinus of..., Merryn of..., and Mirren of..., was a renowned Catholic saint and monk who made significant contributions to the spread of Christianity in Scotland. He was born around 565 in Ireland and died around 620 of natural causes. His shrine at Paisley Abbey became a popular pilgrimage site. As a young man, Mirin dedicated himself to spiritual pursuits and became a student of Saint Comgall of Bangor, a prominent figure in the Irish monastic tradition. Mirin's time with Comgall served as a foundation for his own spiritual journey, deepening his commitment to living a life of piety and spreading the teachings of Christ.
