Biography

Saint Rufus of Capua, also known as Rufino or Rufo, was a renowned spiritual student of Saint Apollinaris of Ravenna. He eventually became the Bishop of Capua, in present-day Italy. He lived during a period of Christian persecution under the rule of Emperor Diocletian and ultimately met martyrdom for his unwavering faith. Saint Rufus is venerated as a courageous witness to the Gospel, recognized for his sanctity and steadfast dedication to his flock. Little is known about Saint Rufus' early life and upbringing, but it is believed that he found his path in Christianity through the teachings of Saint Apollinaris of Ravenna. As a spiritual student, Rufus imbibed the wisdom and guidance of his mentor and grew in his own spiritual journey. In due course, Rufus was appointed as the Bishop of Capua, a position he undertook with vigor and dedication.
