At the age of 30, despite his reluctance, Ruggero was ordained as the bishop of Canne, Italy. Legend has it that during his travels throughout his diocese, an eagle would often appear and soar above him, providing shelter and protection from inclement weather. This remarkable occurrence became a symbol of Ruggero's holiness and divine calling.
