Biography

Blessed Artaldo of Belley, also known as Artaldus, Artaud, Arthaud, Arthold, Artholdus, and Artoldo, was born around 1101 in the Sothonod castle in Ain, France. Little is known about his early life, but it is believed that he served briefly in the court of Amadeus III of Savoy before experiencing a deep spiritual calling to the monastic life.
