Biography

Blessed Francisco Marco Martínez, born on 1 February 1917 in Odón, Teruel, Spain, was a devout Catholic and member of the Claretians, a religious congregation founded by St. Anthony Mary Claret. He lived during a tumultuous time in Spanish history, as the country was marred by the Spanish Civil War in the late 1930s.

As a young man, Francisco felt a strong call to serve God and joined the Claretians, dedicating his life to the service of others. He exhibited a deep commitment to his faith and a strong desire to spread the message of Christ's love and salvation.

Tragically, the violent conflicts of the Spanish Civil War would cut short Francisco's promising life. He met his martyrdom on 19 October 1936 in Mas Claret, Sant Pere dels Arquells, Lleida, Spain, along with many other members of the Claretians who were targeted for their religious beliefs during this turbulent period. Francisco demonstrated unwavering courage and steadfastness in the face of persecution, remaining faithful to his beliefs until the very end.
