Biography

Blessed Fulgencio Martínez García, also known as Fulgencio García Martínez, was a revered Catholic priest who served in the diocese of Cartagena, Spain. He was born on August 14, 1911, in Ribera de Molina, Murcia, Spain, and dedicated his life to the service of God and his fellow human beings.

Fulgencio Martínez García was a devoted member of the Secular Franciscans, a lay branch of the Franciscan Order that follows the teachings and spirituality of Saint Francis of Assisi. Inspired by the Franciscan charism of simplicity, poverty, and humility, he embraced a life committed to prayer, penance, and acts of charity.

During the turbulent years of the Spanish Civil War, Fulgencio Martínez García, along with countless other Catholics and religious figures, faced persecution due to their unwavering faith and commitment to the Church. Despite the dangers that surrounded him, he fearlessly continued to carry out his pastoral duties, providing spiritual guidance and support to his parishioners.

Tragically, on October 4, 1936, Fulgencio Martínez García was martyred in Espinardo, Murcia, Spain.
