Biography

Blessed Robert Montserrat Beliart, born on June 17, 1911, in Reus, Tarragona, Spain, was a talented musician, priest, and member of the Sons of the Holy Family. He demonstrated exceptional skill and mastery in the field of music, becoming a renowned musician before entering the priesthood.

During the turbulent years of the Spanish Civil War, Father Robert Montserrat Beliart fearlessly dedicated himself to his religious and pastoral duties, providing spiritual support and guidance to those in need. He remained steadfast in his commitment to his faith and served as a shining example of courage and compassion.

Tragically, Father Robert Montserrat Beliart became a victim of the violent persecution inflicted on the Church during this period. On November 13, 1936, in Barcelona, Spain, he sacrificed his life for his beliefs, ultimately meeting a martyr's death. His body, unfortunately, was never recovered.

Recognizing his remarkable faith and unwavering dedication, Pope Benedict XVI, on May 10, 2012, issued a decree of martyrdom, venerating Father Robert Montserrat Beliart. This acknowledgement affirmed his status as a martyr who willingly gave his life for the sake of his faith.

Further recognizing his exemplary life, Pope Francis then beatified Blessed Robert Montserrat Beliart on October 13, 2013. This beatification ceremony, led by the Pope, publicly acknowledged his sanctity and confirmed that he is now counted among the blessed in the Catholic Church.

Although specific details about the representation of Blessed Robert Montserrat Beliart are not provided, it is believed that he is often depicted as a priest, possibly holding a musical instrument as a symbol of his skill in music and his dedication to the Church.

Today, Blessed Robert Montserrat Beliart stands as a revered figure within the Catholic Church, an inspiration for all who strive to practice their faith with unwavering devotion, even in the face of adversity and persecution.
