Born into a family of religious devotion as the nephew of the blessed monk Gamelbert of Michaelsbuch, Utto embraced the monastic vocation with profound commitment. His most significant contribution was his pivotal role in establishing the monastery of Metten, where he served as its first abbot. Under his leadership, the community flourished, rooted in the Rule of Saint Benedict and a spirit of contemplative prayer.
