Diocesan priests, seminarians, and laity; there exists extensive documentation of the seminarians' clear-eyed readiness to give their lives for the Lord, aware of the anti-Christian hatred unleashed against members of the Catholic Church. They remained close to their families and friends without hiding, despite the danger. Their reputation for martyrdom spread for some already the day after their killing, for others at later times, especially in their dioceses of origin, and it endures to this day.
