María Séiquer Gayá

Life

Founder of the Apostolic Sisters of Christ Crucified; she lived constantly sustained by faith, hope, and charity, especially after the tragic death of her husband. She did not let herself be overcome by discouragement but became a "woman of forgiveness," with distinctive features: an active forgiveness translated into apostolate; a forgiveness measured against "Christ Crucified"; a forgiveness that became a pedagogical lesson for those who knew her. The charism of her Institute led her to work also on behalf of the children of her husband's murderers and the inhabitants of her town who had been hostile to her.
