They say that Padre Pio used to rebuke the Sardinians who came to him, telling them, "You have Friar Nazareno, you can turn to him." Cook, questor, and porter, he cared for the poor and the sick, and over the years his reputation for holiness grew ever greater, also through prodigious events and miraculous healings, right up to his death.
