First Superior General of the Congregation of the Poor Servants; hers is a simple figure; nourished by prayer, she translated prayer into works on behalf of her neighbor. Prudent in analyzing every situation, in nineteenth-century Sicily she was an example of a determined woman of considerable inner depth.
