Life

Superior General of the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Charles Borromeo; during her eight years of imprisonment she showed heroic firmness and fortitude, the fruit of a deep spiritual life, which enabled her to bear the torture inflicted on the prisoners. She became an example for the other detainees of a spirit of welcome, kept even in the darkest moments, of fortitude, of patient love in forgiveness, answering slander with a smile, gentleness and prayer.
