Biografía

Blessed Nathalan of Aberdeen was born in a wealthy noble family near Aberdeen, Scotland. He was drawn to a life of prayer and contemplation from an early age. Despite the privileges and opportunities that came with his upbringing, Nathalan felt a calling to dedicate his life to God and chose to renounce his wealth and worldly possessions.

Seeking a more solitary and prayerful existence, Nathalan decided to live as a hermit. He found solace and spiritual fulfillment in cultivating and tending to his garden, a practice he considered a form of divine contemplation. Through his humble occupation, Nathalan found a way to sustain himself while remaining focused on his spiritual journey.

During a time of famine in the region, Nathalan's reputation as a holy man began to grow. He was known for his compassionate and generous spirit, often sharing what little he had with those who were suffering. Through his prayers, miracles were attributed to him, providing sustenance and relief to the people in need.

Recognizing his holiness and devotion, Nathalan was eventually appointed as the Bishop of Tullicht in Scotland. In this role, he diligently served his diocese, overseeing the construction of churches and conducting missionary work to spread the teachings of the Catholic faith.

Blessed Nathalan's ministry was marked by his unwavering commitment to his spiritual calling and his dedication to helping others. His life exemplified the virtues of humility, compassion, and selflessness. Through his actions and prayers, he had a profound impact on the lives of many, especially those who were suffering and in need.

After a life dedicated to the service of God and his fellow human beings, Blessed Nathalan of Aberdeen passed away around the year 678. His legacy continues to inspire and his feast day is celebrated on January 8th, and sometimes also on January 19th in certain calendars.
