In the rugged landscapes of North Africa, amidst the ruins of a once-great Roman province, a quiet hero emerged from the shadows. The story of this faithful witness begins not with a birth, but with a choice made in the dark. During a time when the imperial authorities sought to extinguish the light of the Christian faith, the faithful were forced to flee. He chose the safety of concealment, retreating from the city of Caesarea of Mauritania, located in what is now present-day Algeria. Yet, the safety of hiding was not his ultimate goal; the safety of the soul and the protection of kin weighed heavier on his conscience.
