Death and recognition
Suffering from cancer and fragile health that had affected her lungs, she died on 3 May 1912 at the age of 72, the same day she received permission to print the Little Rule for her sisters.[1] Her mortal remains were initially buried in the parish cemetery of Saint-Michel in Sherbrooke, transferred to the motherhouse in 1935, and moved to the cathedral of Sherbrooke in 2017.[1] Pope John Paul II beatified her on 11 September 1984 in Montreal during his apostolic journey to Canada.[1] Marie Leonie Paradis was canonized by Pope Francis in Rome on 20 October 2024.[1]
