San Equitius de Valeria

Saint Equitius of Valeria, also known as Equizio, was a renowned Catholic saint who lived in the late 5th to early 6th century. Equitius was born between 480 and 490 in the area of Valeria Suburbicaria, which is present-day L'Aquila-Rieti-Tivoli in Abruzzi, Italy. Equitius came under the influence of Saint Benedict of Nursia, the renowned founder of the Benedictine Order. Equitius was appointed as an abbot of a house in Valeria, Italy, where he continued his mission to promote the monastic life.
