Biografía

Saint Trillo of Wales, also known as Drillo or Drel, was born in the 6th century in Brittany, France. He was the son of an Amorican chief and grew up in a devout Christian family. From a young age, Trillo felt a calling to spread the teachings of Christianity, and he embarked on a missionary journey to Wales. Trillo arrived in Wales and settled in the region known as Bardsey. He dedicated himself to the monastic life and became a monk, devoting his time to prayer, study, and serving the local community. Trillo's dedication and piety earned him great respect among the people of Wales, and many sought his spiritual guidance. The impact of Trillo's missionary work is evident in the towns named after him. Llandrillo in Denbighshire and Llandrillo yn Rhos in Rhos-on-Sea honor his memory and the significant role he played in spreading the message of Christianity in the area. While not much is known about Saint Trillo's physical appearance, he is revered for his spiritual influence and the legacy he left behind. The exact details of his representation, such as symbols or objects associated with him, remain unknown in historical records. Saint Trillo's feast day is celebrated on June 15th, commemorating his life and the impact he had on the faith of the Welsh people. Though his exact date of birth and death are uncertain, his canonization as a saint occurred prior to the formal establishment of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, making him a pre-congregation saint. Today, Saint Trillo is venerated as the patron saint of Llandrillo in Denbighshire and Llandrillo yn Rhos in Wales. The local communities continue to honor his memory, seeking his intercession in matters of faith, guidance, and protection. Saint Trillo's life and work demonstrate the power of individual devotion and the lasting impact that even the humblest of missionaries can have on a community. Through his dedication to spreading the Gospel and his commitment to a life of prayer and service, Saint Trillo remains an inspirational figure for both the Welsh people and the wider Christian community.
