Saint Elpidius of Campania, also known as Elpidius of Atella, was born in the year 390 in Carthage, North Africa. He belonged to a noble family and, together with his brother Canione, both became priests. During the time of the Arian Vandals' persecution, led by Genseric, Elpidius and his brother were subjected to torture and eventually exiled. They were placed on a boat without a rudder and left adrift at sea....
