Saint Ferdinand of Aragon, also known as Ferdinand of Caiazzo or Ferdinando of Alife, was born in 1030 in Aragon, Spain, into the royal family of Aragon and the rulers of the two Sicilies. He was the fourth child of King Sancho III and Elvisa, Countess of Castile. From a young age, Ferdinand felt a calling to the religious and contemplative life....
