Saint Gerard of Potenza, also known as Gerardo, was born into the Italian nobility in the town of Piancenza, Italy. Little is known about his early life, but it is believed that he came from a devout Christian family. Inspired by his faith, Gerard initially set out to join the Crusades, where he hoped to serve the Church through his military prowess. However, fate had different plans for Gerard....
