Pope Heraclas, born to pagan parents who were baptized as Christians after his birth, was raised with a foundation of Greek philosophy and Christian doctrine. He studied the four gospels and epistles before being ordained deacon and priest by Demetrius, the 12th Patriarch of Alexandria. Heraclas succeeded Origen as head of the Catechetical School of Alexandria....
