Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, also known as Catherine Tekakwitha, Lily of the Mohawks, Protectress of Canada, Tegakouita, and Tegakwitha, was born in 1656 in Osserneon (Auriesville), modern New York, USA. She was the daughter of a Christian Algonquin woman who was captured by the Iroquois and married to a non-Christian Mohawk chief....
