Saint Kenan of Duleek, revered as a foundational figure in early Irish Christianity, was born into the royal lineage of Munster. His early life was marked by a significant political event: as one of fifty Irish princes' hostages given to King Leogair to guarantee peace, he was later freed through the intercession of Bishop Kiaran.
