Saint Lutgardis, also known as Lutgardis of the Sacred Heart, Lutgardis of Tongres, Lutgardis of Aywieres, and by various other names, was born in 1182 in Tongres, Limburg, Belgium. She was a beautiful young girl with a love for clothes and no apparent religious vocation. However, her life took an unexpected turn when her dowry was lost in a failed business venture, leaving little chance for a normal, married life....
