Saint Nicolas Bùi Ðuc The, also known as Nicolas The, was a lifelong layman in the apostolic vicariate of East Tonkin, which is located in modern-day Vietnam. He was born around the year 1792 in the village of Kiên Trung, Nam Ðinh. During his lifetime, the Christian community in Vietnam faced severe persecutions under the reign of Emperor Minh Mang....
