Saint Norbert of Xanten, also known as Norbert of Kingdown and Norbert of Magdeburg, was born around 1080 to a noble family in Xanten, Germany. Raised in the midst of royalty, he served as almoner for Emperor Henry V. In this position, Norbert was exposed to the materialistic and worldly lifestyle of the court, resulting in a somewhat secular outlook on life....
