Saint Pachomius of Tabenna, also known as Pachomius the Elder, Pachomius the Great, Pachome, Pakhomius, Pacomius, or Pacomio, was born around 290 in Upper Thebaid, Egypt. He was originally a soldier in the imperial Roman army and was converted to Christianity in 313. After his conversion, Pachomius left the army in 314 and became a spiritual student of Saint Palaemon....
