Saint Paul The Hermit, also known as Paul the First Hermit, Paul of Thebes, Paul the Anchorite, Pavly, Pavlos, Anba Bola, Paolo di Tebe, was born around 230 AD in Lower Thebes, Egypt. He hailed from an upper-class Christian family and received a well-rounded education, becoming fluent in both Greek and Egyptian languages. Tragedy struck the young Paul when his parents passed away when he was just fifteen years old....
