Saint Peter of Atroa, also known as Pierre d'Atroa or Theophylact, was born in 773 near Ephesus, Asia Minor (modern Turkey). He was the eldest of three children in his family. At a young age, Peter received a message from the Blessed Virgin Mary, which led him to become the spiritual student of Saint Paul the Hesychast. At the age of 18, Peter entered the monastery at Crypta, Phrygia, and took the name Peter....
