Saint Philoterus, also known as Philoterus of Nicomedia, was born to the noble family of the Roman proconsul Pacian in Nicomedia, which is located in modern-day Turkey. Little is known about his early life and education, but he grew up in a time of great religious and political turmoil in the Roman Empire....
