Saint Simplicius of Bourges, also known as Simplicius of Clermont, was a married layman and the father of a large family. His wife belonged to the esteemed Roman senatorial Paladii family. Simplicius was widely recognized for his personal holiness, which led to the local bishops, under the leadership of Sidonius Apollinaris of Clermont, selecting him as the bishop of Bourges, France, around the year 470....
